Abstract

Pharmacological treatment of adult ADHD has been shown to be effective in studies. However, pharmacotherapy alone cannot resolve all difficulties, because understandable self-esteem problems and social difficulties often develop over the course of the long-standing disorder. Psychotherapy has proven very useful for patients with ADHD in this regard. In recent years, for example, behaviorally oriented individual and group therapy programs have been developed and shown to be effective in studies.
