Abstract
Simplistic diagnosis carries the risk of overlooking comorbidity and psychosocial contributing factors and thus of inadequate treatment. Reflexive prescribing of methylphenidate usually improves behavior, but often falls short. Against this background, the complex nature of the disorder and the need for multidimensional diagnosis and treatment are presented.
