Bibliotherapy as a treatment option for children with externalizing behavior disorders

Abstract

Externalizing problem behavior is among the most common and stable behavioral problems in childhood and adolescence. Practical alternatives to expensive treatments that are not sufficiently available are becoming increasingly necessary. The aim of the present pilot study was to test bibliotherapy in the form of a manual-based self-help program under minimal-contact conditions with parents of children displaying externalizing problem behavior.
