Parental evaluation of the course and treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Abstract
Because integrating parents into treatment is particularly important for the individual prognosis, information on parents’ subjective assessment of the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions is highly relevant. Such feedback can also help optimize work with hyperkinetic children and their parents and teachers or educators. The present study describes a follow-up investigation of an initial sample of 197 children diagnosed with ADHD. The study first focuses on describing the course of symptoms in patients with ADHD over the period of two to three years after diagnosis. In addition, parents’ subjective evaluation of the treatments carried out is examined.
