Social skills training for children with ADHD

Abstract
Deficits in social competence are among the most common accompanying features of ADHD. For the first time in German-speaking countries, a therapeutic program for promoting social skills was developed that is tailored to the specific deficits of children with ADHD. Methodology: In a two-group pretest-posttest design with an untreated waiting-list control group, 40 children aged between 7 and 13 years were examined. In groups of three, they participated in the newly developed 10-hour TEAM training program. Social competence was measured using the Parent Social Skills Assessment Form (ESF-E). Attention performance and accompanying psychological factors were also assessed.
