Abstract

As part of the Mannheim Study of Children at Risk, the development of toddlers was followed prospectively into primary-school age. Can children who have a hyperkinetic disorder at age eight be distinguished from those who are unaffected on the basis of psychopathological symptoms, cognitive, motor, and neurological developmental status, and parenting conditions assessed at age two? Are such precursors of hyperkinetic disorders specific to this group of disorders?
