On the ontogeny of aggressive behavior

Abstract

After defining the relevant terms, this article reviews etiological approaches to the development of violence. Extensive research on the causes of violent behavior is available from the social sciences, psychology, psychotherapy, and (neuro)biology or physiology, but the respective research findings and resulting insights have not yet been integrated into a comprehensive overall picture.
