Abstract
The treatment of ADHD in children and adolescents has always been accompanied by intensive and sometimes heated debate. By now, a broad consensus has emerged among child and adolescent psychiatric and pediatric professional societies in Europe and North America, reflected in the largely concordant guidelines issued by the various professional societies between 2001 and 2007. This article provides recommendations for the treatment of ADHD in children and adolescents in Switzerland, based both on empirically grounded guidelines and on the extensive experience of practitioners in their day-to-day work with ADHD patients and their families.
