Abstract
ADHD is a disorder that often persists into adulthood and can be associated with psychological and psychosocial impairments. Although medication has proven effective in treating ADHD in adulthood, a significant number of affected individuals continue to report relevant functional impairments and/or residual symptoms. Current research suggests that psychological interventions may be a promising treatment option for adults with ADHD who have not experienced sufficient improvement with pharmacotherapy, cannot tolerate it, or are reluctant to undergo medication. Key objectives of psychological interventions, in addition to providing adequate education for those affected, include developing strategies for improving self-management and self-regulation, as well as enhancing quality of life. This article will provide an overview of psychoeducation and coaching as promising new psychological treatment options for ADHD in adulthood.
