Psychosocial level of functioning and quality of life of children and adolescents with hyperkinetic disorders

Abstract

The hyperkinetic disorders are one of the most common chronic diseases in childhood and adolescence, impacting many areas of life (Huss 2004). Accordingly, the issue of quality of life recently gained increasing scholarly attention. It should be no longer sufficient to analyse just symptoms; rather, the quality of life needs to be recorded systematically and holistically to enable a high level of quality of the diagnostic and therapeutic measures (Kramer 2007). Objective: To assess the level of psychosocial functioning (ICF) and the quality of life (ILK) of children/ adolescents with hyperkinetic disorders.
