Abstract
The BDI-II is used to assess the severity of depressive symptoms by means of 21 items compiled as a self-report instrument. The original version of the test was based on clinical symptoms and was not committed to any theory of depression. The procedural notes for the revision primarily mention the alignment of the items with the DSM-IV criteria.
