Abstract
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often persists into adulthood and has a significant comorbidity for example with addiction, depression, anxiety and personality disorders. In the past, scientific research in adults mainly focused on neurobiology and medical treatment and there were no data on the effects of psychotherapy in adult ADHD. Only recently, first studies have been published showing positive effects of a specific behaviour therapy. Following an overview on the stage of research on ADHD in adults, possible elements of a disorder specific and structured behaviour therapy of adult ADHD are presented and its transfer in daily clinical work is discussed.
